Memories: Good Times-I wouldn't like to go back to college but have wonderful high school memories I wouldn't mind repeating. Too bad teenagers today have "drive -through" instead of "drive-ins" after activities. I loved after-game dances. Now few attend. We lived in a great era.

Celebrating Bob's 80th birthday last April, we still live in Green Valley Where we have been for the last 45 years.

We still own our construction Company (O. C. Jones & Sons in Berkeley), which is always busy building and repairing roads and freeways.  We are grateful for our junior partner who now runs the day-to-day business operations. Gives us more time for golf and grandkids!

 

 

Our family in 2017, celebrating the wedding of our oldest son. We were beginning to think he was never going to get married! He and his longtime partner were married in heir vineyard and served the first bottling of their Suisun Valley Cabernet Sauvignon at their garden reception.

The bride and groom left the next day for their honeymoon in Maldives. We stayed on at their place in Suisun Valley because our home in Green Valley was directly in the path of the Atlas Peak fire, which had started the night of their wedding.  We were part of a mandatory evacuation for seven days in all. It was a very close call and we thank God that Cal Fire and our volunteer fire department were able to divert the flames and save our valley, except for two homes. It really was a miacle.

 

Also in 2017 we celebrated the 100th anniversary of my mom's family moving from Oklahoma to Gridley, California. The family farming operation they started in 1917 has been in the family ever since, and is known as Fillmore Farms today, where this image was taken. It is now owned and operated by my cousins, who grow and process organic walnuts.

Where we have lived: In the Army I lived in Fort Ord, and in Virginia and in Thailand but mostly we've lived in Gridley.
Leisure-time activities: Hunting club, Lions International activities but mostly hangin' with my wife, kids and grandkids! We love being together at the cabin at Lake Madrone, family parties and Bar-B-Ques. We also spend time planning class and family reunions. Travel, fishing, scouting, golf, and doing Sudokos every night trying to keep my brain alive
Travel: Mexico, Europe, (Italy, Switzerland, England, Ireland, Portugal, Spain, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Netherlands)  Africa (_South Africa, Kenya, Egypt, ) and Jordon in the Mid East.  We've toured Central America (Panama Canal and surrounding areas, Caribbean islands, ) and South America (Peru and Bolivia).  Asia (China, Thailand (again), Cambodia) and we plan to go to Australia and New Zealand in February).  This is pretty amazing since neither of us traveled much outside California until a few years before retirement and of course after retirement.  We are spending our kids inheritance.  When we die they can sell the house and split up that!
Memories: Getting "wedgies" in the hall, Gary Richey throwing my mouthpiece out the window before my trumpet solo. Remembering the many great friendships!

Hobbies: I am still buiilding radio controlled model airplanes (WWII Fighters, Bombers and Jets with six-foot to 12-afoot wingspans). I also do a lot of Karaoke singing for the Elks Lodge and Retirement Homes.
Travels: I have gone on a lot of cruises on the Pacific side and also the Atlantic side. In 2010 I will be on a cruise out of Florida to somewhere... I don't know where yet. I hope to see a lot of you in September or October.
